Youth Projects

Mouna Elementry School

Youth is our future generation and we believe it's never too early to start instilling in children good values and self esteem. Mouna School provides quality preschool and elementary education, the children are encouraged to thrive academically and become productive and responsible individuals. We foster hard work, accountability and personal growth, but also make learning fun and interesting. We want to help the children discover their talents and abilities and learn how to develop them and encourage them to pursue their dreams.

Youth Sports teams

Alter Forum is sponsoring soccer teams to get the local youth involved in sports, keep them off the streets and give them a sense of purpose. We know how the boys love the sports, especially soccer, so we are using the sports to promote sportsmanship, team playing, discipline and hard work. We also want to give the youth a sense of belonging and teach them how to work together for a good of the team. The team competitions are rewarded with trophies and diplomas to instill the feeling of accomplishment and build their self esteem.

Intercultural Summer Camps

In the summer of 2008 Alter Forum hosted international youth camp in the Taste of Sahara campground, where 50 catholic scouts from the Canary Islands and 50 muslim youth of Sahara spent 10 days together getting to know each other. The cultural exchange was a great success and a wonderful experience as the youth broke thru the language and cultural barriers and played together, new friendships were developed. It was an eye opening experience as both sides realized many stereotypes they believed .We hope this was a first of many intercultural events to follow that promote tolerance and give youth the exposure to other cultures.

Laayoune Games

Alter Forum in cooperation with the track and field coach from the US has sponsored Laayoune Games, the sports event which took place in the city stadium. All the city youth, boys and girls were invited to participate in 60 m and 100 m run and relay races. The event was a great success as the youth raced with all their might and the parents cheered in the bleachers. Every participant received a medal as a reward for completing the race. We believe that for majority of the youth this was the first medal they have ever received
